Defender Nava was born and raised in a poor neighborhood in Santa Paula. His parents were hard working farm workers who taught him never to judge anyone by their mistakes. In 2008, at age 24, he became one of the youngest attorneys in the county and went on to successfully defend thousands of clients facing felonies and misdemeanors. In 2014, he returned home and attained the record for most consecutive criminal jury trials won by a defense attorney in Ventura during 2014. In 2015, at age 30, he became one of the youngest law professors in Ventura.
